Smart temperature controls are helpful when owning two homes

Some of years ago, my hubby & I bought a second cabin down south, then our plan was to adore the best weather in each location.

We now live up north from May to September & down south for the other six months.

At first, setting up a second home was a good deal of work & expense. We needed two sets of gardening tools, dishes, cookware, bedding, towels & all of the essentials. Because we didn’t want to haul suitcases filled with clothing & personal items back & forth, we invested into a second wardrobe, toothbrushes, combs, nail clippers & the necessities. While we stayed down south, we distraught about our northern property. With temperatures down into the downsides & multiple feet of snow, there is always the potential for disaster. If the power should go out for an extended stage of time or the boiler should fail, there could be extensive damage. The water pipes might freeze & burst. The cabin might flood. A tree limb could go through a window & allow in chilly cold air for months at a time. When we relocated up north for the Springtime & summer, we had complications with the cabin in the south. The intense heat & humidity are ideal for growing mold & mildew. It was difficult to decide on a temperature setting to run the a/c. Because of storms with torrential downpours & high winds, the occasion of damage to the cabin was a constant stress. We’ve solved a lot of the complications by installing a smart temperature control & security system in each location. The smart temperature controls allow us to monitor & make adjustments from virtually anywhere. We acquire alerts if there is a power outage or extreme temperature swing. We even acquire reminders to change air filters & schedule service. We can conserve energy while the cabin is empty & raise or lower temperature so that we arrive to an ideal comfort level. The security system protects against a break-in, notifies us if a window breaks or moisture is detected & includes surveillance cameras.
