Academy’s Sports Management Master’s Recognized in List of Top 30 Degree Programs

The United States Sports Academy’s online Master of Sports Science degree in sports management has been recognized as one of the top 30 best online sports management degrees by Online College Plan. More than 50 master’s-level online degree programs were studied for the list released by Online College Plan, a service created to assist parents and students in learning about their options for an online college education. The service’s team includes educators, parents, and students. Dr. Roch King United States Sports Academy chair of sports coaching Dr. Roch King was recently reappointed to serve another year as a member of one of USA Swimming’s influential committees. King will serve as a member of the national swimming governing body’s Club Development Committee, which is charged with overseeing the growth and development of recreational and developmental USA Swimming-affiliated clubs around the country. Academy President Dr. T.J. Rosandich met with Salvador Medialdea - the Executive Secretary to Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte - and Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William Ramirez. United States Sports Academy President and CEO Dr. T.J. Rosandich recently participated as an official observer at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines. The SEA Games are a biennial regional multi-sport event featuring athletes from 11 countries and close to 10,000 athletes from around Southeast Asia. The games are regulated by the Southeast Asian Games Federation and supervised by the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia. Academy Launches Online ‘ProMethod’ Fitness Course

The United States Sports Academy is now offering an online, video-driven personal fitness course showcasing the cutting edge Finnish ProMethod concept to the general public around the world. The Academy in August 2018 signed a cooperative agreement with the Finnish company ProFTraining Finland to provide educational opportunities to students in Finland, as well as to integrate that company’s health care techniques into Academy coursework. As part of the agreement, the Academy is now offering online, video-led continuing education courses featuring ProFTraining’s personal training concepts: the FasciaMethod, the ProMethod, and coming soon the PowerMethod. Chen, Kostornaia Named United States Sports Academy November Athletes of the Month

An American superstar and a Russian teenage sensation were named the United States Sports Academy’s male and female Athletes of the Month for November. Figure skaters Nathan Chen and Alena Kostornaia took home the Academy’s top honors after stellar performances on the ice in the month. Chen won gold at the Internationaux de France with a score of 297.16 and qualified for his fourth consecutive Grand Prix Final. It was Chen’s eighth consecutive win dating back to the 2018 World Championships. Student of the Month Brandon Fox Eyes Job in Collegiate Coaching Ranks

Brandon Fox is a former two-sport athlete who earned all-state honors in high school football and when he finishes his United States Sports Academy bachelor’s degree, he’d like to use that experience to coach at the collegiate level. A resident of Littleton, Colo., Fox is the Academy’s Student of the Month for November. Dr. Marty Durden Says ‘Servant-Leader’ Coaches Can Solve Ethical Dilemmas in Sports

Dr. Marty Durden completed his United States Sports Academy doctoral degree with a dissertation that researched how “servant leadership” from high school coaches motivated their athletes on the basketball court. Now, Durden says he’s become an evangelist for the servant-leadership style of coaching. Durden is the athletic director at Presbyterian School in Houston, Texas. Dr. Sandra Geringer United States Sports Academy faculty member Dr. Sandra Geringer is set to make a presentation at the annual meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) in Houston, Texas, in December. Geringer, the Academy’s director of recreation management and sports studies, has intimate knowledge of the SACSCOC assessment process after having served the last two years as the Academy’s liaison to the regional higher education accrediting body. Geringer’s presentation, “Complying with Standard 12.6: Student Debt,” will cover updates to SACSCOC’s policies related to student financial awareness. Academy’s Inaugural Doctoral Dissertation Workshop Hailed as Success

The United States Sports Academy is committed to student success in all aspects of their graduate work, and because of that commitment the institution recently hosted its inaugural seminar to help doctoral degree students work through the dissertation writing process. The Academy welcomed seven doctoral students from all over the United States for the three-day Dissertation Writing Intensive Workshop hosted by the Robert Block Library on 13-15 November, 2019, on the institution’s campus in Daphne, Ala. Several members of the Academy staff who are in the doctoral program also attended the seminar. The workshop was delivered collaboratively by full time faculty and staff, with classroom based activities about writing, researching, formatting, the IRB process, and more, combined with hands-on sessions, round tables, and one-on-one sessions with faculty members.
